On Sunday, the inaugural Christy O Connor Senior Trophy was played in bright sunshine with a slight north east cool wind. It brought together all the seasons winners and high order of merit performers.
The course was in superb condition with the greens receptive and running smooth.
The 1st hole played as tough as usual and half the field posted an other(more than a double bogey). One competitor had the dreaded 6,6,6 start.
The early pace was set by Leo Lennon-Maher who was leading at he halfway stage with a 31 nett. Followed closely by Dave Wrafter and Donal Craig on 32,Pat Caden on 33 and Kevin Canavan on 34.
Dave Wrafter kept his form on the back nine coming home in a nett 33 followed by Mick Durnin and Pat Caden on 34, Donal Craig on 35 with Leo and Kevin on 36.
The course yielded just 12 birdies with Kevin Canavan scoring 3, Donal Craig and Ray Lawlor with 2 each.
There were three 2's from Ben Finlay and Fergal Power at the 9th and Ray Lawlor at the 7th.
